After its incredible success in making audiences soil themselves in American Horror Story: Freak Show, producers Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk have decided to bring back deformed killer clown Twisty in the upcoming season.
Ryan Murphy took to Instagram to spread the news, sharing this photo from the set.
Twisty is remembered for his passion for kidnap and murder, as well as providing inspiration for the real villain of the season, Dandy (Finn Wittrock). Twisty is played brilliantly by John Carrol Lynch, who seems to have a knack for clowns having also portrayed real life killer John Wayne Gacy in American Horror Story: Hotel.
Perhaps Murphy’s revival of the clown is to rival the upcoming It remake starring Bill Skarsgård as Stephen King‘s infamous Pennywise the Dancing Clown.
The upcoming season of American Horror Story takes inspiration from last November’s U.S. presidential election. Of course, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Cheyenne Jackson return to the series alongside new additions Billy Eichner and Colton Haynes.
American Horror Story’s seventh season will premiere this autumn.
