‘Unlocked’ Trailer Promises Fists, Guns & Bad Accents | Film Trailer
The first trailer for action film Unlocked has dropped, sporting a relatively star-studded cast for what looks to be your run-of-the-mill action genre piece.
Noomi Rapace, Orlando Bloom, Toni Collette, John Malkovich and Michael Douglas star in the film, which seems to have run out of ideas and simply latched onto typical action movie tropes. There’s a nondescript terrorist plot, a big city under siege – London, in this case – a mole in the system along with plenty of hand-to-hand combat and flailing limbs attached to weapons.
This might sound oddly harsh for a film that’s only just released its first trailer. Who knows, perhaps this could somehow punch above its weight and actually be something substantial despite the generic trailer? And then you realise shooting actually wrapped around two years ago and the film is only just getting a release. That’s never a good sign.
Still, the cast should at least keep this from turning up in the bargain bin. The film is directed by Michael Apted (The World Is Not Enough, Enigma), and released in the UK on Friday, May 5.
