Ryan Potter has been cast in the upcoming (and under-the-radar) DC Comics series Titans, a live-action adaptation of the popular kids animation show. Titans focuses on “a band of soon-to-be superheroes recruited from across the DC Universe“, playing on the popular group of misfits trope that has become a staple Hollywood success.

Potter joins the series as Garfield “Gar” Logan, more commonly known as Beast Boy, a green coloured mutant who, after undergoing a life saving experiment, can morph into any animal of his choosing. Quite easily done in animation, it’ll be interesting to see how well this can really be achieved on a presumably low budget of a live action TV show.

Ryan Potter most notably voiced Hiro Hamada in Disney’s 2014 animation Big Hero 6. The film was a great success, grossing over $657 million worldwide and winning an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Potter, however, received little recognition, though that may be about to change if this DC project follows the road to success paved by the studio’s Wonder Woman.

Titans plans to launch on the DC-branded streaming service in 2018.
