Vampire Weekend Preview New Song At Show In California | Music News

Indie-rock band Vampire Weekend, who comes from a four year hiatus following their third album Modern Vampires Of The City, were performing at a music festival in Ojai, California when they announced to a visibly excited crowd that they were about to perform an unreleased song.

The song will, supposedly, be off their upcoming album, that has yet to have a definite release date, despite bandleader Ezra Koening confirming that it will be out sometime this year.

This is good news for fans who have been left hanging for too long with nothing to look forward to. Considering that once upon a time the band was on the edge of stardom, with the single “A-Punk” being overly played in a bunch of videogames (Guitar Hero anyone?) and the music video for “Giving Up The Gun” starring an array of stars, from Jake Gyllenhaal and RZA to Joe Jonas, their slow disappearance from the scene has definitely left a void in the indie-rock genre.

Luckily, the New York City band, after flying under the radar since they finished touring their latest album Modern Vampires in early January, is finally ready to come back with new music.

The band played a snippet of “Flower Moon“, the new song that was caught on camera during the festival performance. Despite the video being too short to really grasp anything apart from a vague tune, the excitement is all there as the song gives hope to a Vampire Weekend comeback.
