Warner Bros Announces ‘Godzilla 2’ | Film News

‘Godzilla 2’ has been confirmed

Warner Bros have announced that Godzilla 2 will be made after incredible box office numbers for the first movie. There were rumours of a sequel during the film’s promotion, when Thomas Tull, CEO of Legendary Pictures which funded 75% of the film, said that a sequel would be dependent on the public’s response to the first installment.

The recently released Godzilla movie made $196 million in its opening weekend in the U.S. and $103 million internationally. It has not yet been confirmed whether Godzilla director Gareth Edwards will return to direct the sequel. However, he has been reportedly stated, prior to the film’s release, that if he were to make a sequel, he would take the same approach as he has done with the first film – Godzilla will be kept in the background of the scenes to create suspense and show the monster’s impact on the people.
