Watch The Trailer For Cringe-Comedy ‘Lemon’ | Film Trailer

The trailer has been released for bizarre drama-comedy Lemon, a tale of separation and its ensuing oddities. The film is the feature directorial debut of Janicza Bravo, who also cowrote the screenplay with leading actor Brett Gelman.

The description of the trailer reads: “Isaac Lachmann is a dud. Isaac Lachmann is 40. Isaac Lachmann is a man in free fall immobilized by mediocrity. His career is going nowhere. His girlfriend of ten years is leaving him. And his overbearing family doesn’t help matters. What did he do to deserve this? Things were supposed to work out differently for him. Isaac Lachmann had big dreams. Now he just watches as his life unravels.”

Lemon“, they describe, is “a person or thing that proves to be defective, imperfect, or unsatisfactory”. Isaac Lachmann, therefore, is a lemon.

The film certainly looks like it has zest, despite the dead faces and lack of energy of the characters. It has quirk and character. Lemon has everything needed to appeal to the millennial; minimalism, awkwardness, mediocrity, and Michael Cera. Judy Greer, Jeff Garlin, and Megan Mullally also have plenty to offer in this madness.

Lemon premiered at Sundance earlier this year, with many saying the film took a while to get into, but is certainly worth the watch. I’m certainly looking forward to biting my fist in the cinema.

Lemon is in theaters, On Demand, on Amazon Video and iTunes, August 18. Watch the trailer below, but try not to die of embarrassment.
