Will Ferrell To Star In Netflix Comedy About Eurovision Song Contest | Film News

A-list comedian Will Ferrell, best known for his roles in hit movies Anchorman and Elf, is set to star in Netflix feature film Eurovision, after co-writing the script with his long-time collaborator Andrew Steele. The pair has teamed up in the past on Casa de mi Padre and A Deadly Adoption.

Produced by Gary Sanchez Productions, the upcoming comedy will be based on annual music contest The Eurovision Song Contest, a wildly popular and long-running international TV singing competition whose former contestants include ABBA (winner for Sweden in 1974) and Céline Dion (winner for Switzerland in 1988).

Ferrell was seen at this year’s contest in Lisbon, which saw 43 countries competing for the prize that was ultimately won by Israel’s Netta with her female empowering pop song “Toy“. The actor revealed that he’s been a big fan of the music fixture since his Swedish wife introduced him to it in 1999.
