William Fitzsimmons – People Change Their Minds | New Music
William Fitzsimmons’ father grew up without his birth family, abandoned in hospital following a serious bout of whooping cough. Profound and personal family baggage like this have helped inform his music, like one of his latest efforts, “People Change Their Minds”.
It begins with earnest, melodic and intense acoustic guitar, complimented with almost whispered vocals. The piano kicks in and drops out before the beginning of the second verse. There appears to also be some strings, too, to give it that sombre feeling, tugging on your heartstrings with the sheer emotion of it all. Whether there are backing vocals via someone else, or that he double tracked his own is no issue, as works well overall with the track.
