‘X-Men Apocalypse’ To Focus On Mystique And Beast Relationship | Film News

With both X-Men First Class and X-Men Days of Future Past focusing on the love/hate relationship between Charles Xavier and Erik Lenhsherr, it looks like the third installment of the new franchise, X-Men Apocalypse, will focus more on their secondary characters, specifically Beast and Mystique.

According to producer Simon Kinberg, who dropped many a hint in a recent interview with Collider, the new movie will focus on Beast and Mystique’s developing relationship. With once real life couple, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult playing the mutant duo, this shouldn’t be too far a stretch for the two of them. With Mystique stuck in the middle of BFF/mortal enemies, Charles and Erik, in the last two movies; it will be interesting to see how their turbulent relationship has effected Lawrence’s luminous blue character and how this might ensure the development of her relationship with, equally blue, Beast.

As well as this, Kinberg has spoken about his enjoyment towards the 1980’s time setting for X-Men Apocalypse. Many of the old school X-Men fans were born during the 80’s from the original comics and Kinberg revealed that this was a fun and cathartic experience. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m definitely ready to see Michael Fassbender is some 80’s inspired leg warmers. Directed by none other than the brilliant Bryan Singer, X-Men Apocalypse comes to cinemas on May 27, 2016.
