14-year-old Jenna Ortega is set to star in director and writer Mark Drury Taylor‘s Saving Flora, produced by Fabio Golombek (Experimenter).

Saving Flora centers on an elephant, Flora, whose circus days are over. She’s old, tired, and no longer able to perform her tricks. The ringleader decides she must be put down, but his daughter – played by Ortega – refuses, and leaves with Flora, sparking a chase that can put them in danger.

Ortega is best known for starring as Gina Rodriguez‘s younger counterpart in Golden Globe-winning Jane the Virgin. She also stars in Stuck in the Middle, and had sall roles in Iron Man 3 (2013), and Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013). Saving Flora could be Ortega’s biggest role yet, breaking her into greater Hollywood opportunities.

The film is currently in its pre-production phase, so expect more news to come before its eventual release.
