Yves Saint Laurent Exhibition To Be Held At The Bowes Museum | Fashion News

The Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle, County Durham is set to host the UK’s first ‘comprehensive display of Yves Saint Laurent’s life and work’ in an exhibition entitled Yves Saint Laurent: Style is Eternal. Running from July 11 to October 25, the museum will showcase fifty of the most memorable garments which revolutionized womenswear during the French designer’s 50-year career, including pieces from his Russian collection, Mondrian dresses and female tuxedos.

Pierre Bergé, president of the Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent Foundation, described The Bowes Museum as “the perfect setting for us – a museum built as a French chateau, in the age of the Second Empire“. Bergé, the former partner of Yves Saint Laurent, also said of Saint Laurent’s legacy: “If Chanel gave women their freedom, it was Saint Laurent who empowered them“.
