Zac Efron Joins ‘Baywatch’ Cast | Film News
After the announcement came that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is to star in the upcoming film adaptation of popular lifeguard soap opera Baywatch, comes the announcement from The Hollywood Reporter of a second star – in the form of teen-heartthrob-turned-serious-actor Zac Efron.
Seth Gordon is set to direct the picture, which has been written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. The plot of the film has been disclosed as a well-behaved veteran lifeguard played by Johnson, who must team up with troublemaking young guard Efron in order to save the beach from an environmental disaster that will ensue if a no-good oil tycoon gets his way.
Efron seems to be a good fit in comedy styled films, going by his role in Bad Neighbours last year, and of course fits the bill in terms of having the ‘strapping lifeguard physique’. If all goes to plan, Baywatch will begin shooting Feburary next year.
