Zara Larsson – Ain’t My Fault | New Music

After storming the charts throughout the world with her major hits “Lush Life” and “Never Forget You”, Zara Larsson is back at it with her first single off her international debut album. Premiered today, “Ain’t My Fault” knocks hard and will shake all those territories that ignored the synth pop-scented “Lush Life” – USA, huh?

Articulating both its chorus and verses around a looped synth line and deep drums, the track represents a drastic change from the incredibly European sound Zara proposed so far, this time winking at the urban scene that’s dominating the States.

The result is a striking smash hit that perfectly showcases Zara’s (and MNEK’s, who wrote it) versatility:  are we ready to welcome this 18 years old pop diva as the next big thing? Judging by the song lyrics, it’s not her fault if she’s better than all of you, and this “***Flawless” on steroids is nothing but a proof of her ear for incredible melodies and catchy hooks.

I speak as loud as the volume I listen to music, and this is probably symptomatic of my love for pop music: I love pop music because it is often unapologetically in-your-face, it shouts rather than tell, it drives you crazy. And after 21 years loving pop music, I think I’ve completely gone mad. It all started in 1997, when my mum bought me my first cassette: needless to say, it was ‘Barbie Girl’ by Aqua, and from that point on, it’s been a never-ending loving relationship between me and music. I study, work and live life part-time, and listen to music full-time.
