Zoey Deutch Lands Key Role In J.D. Salinger Biopic ‘Rebel In The Rye’ | Film News
Zoey Deutch is the latest to join a stellar ensemble cast for Danny Strong’s Rebel In The Rye alongside Nicholas Hoult, Kevin Spacey, Laura Dern, Brian D’Arcy James and Hope Davis.
The film will explore Salinger’s life and all the events that led to the publication of his classic novel The Catcher In The Rye in 1951. Deutch has landed the coveted role of Oona O’Neill, the daughter of the renowned playwright Eugene O’Neill.
An aspiring actress and débutante, her alluring personality draws the then unknown Salinger (Hoult) in, and they have a whirlwind romance before he enlists for the army following Pearl Harbour.
The biopic is written and directed by Danny Strong, known for his work on FOX‘s hit show Empire and his script duties on the latest Hunger Games installments: Mockingjay– Part 1 and Part 2. Production is slated to begin in April.
