‘Zoolander 2’ Script Read-Through Happening Soon, According To Will Ferrell | Film News

It was back in 2001 when Derek Zoolander and Hansel McDonald first entered our screens with their ridiculous poses and over compensating pouts in Zoolander, and despite confirmation in 2008 from the films writer and director Ben Stiller that a sequel was in the works, devoted fans are still waiting for the cult comedy to return. Well, today could be their lucky day.

Will Ferrell has announced a script read-through for Zoolander 2 will be happening very soon and he will also be reprising his role as fashion mogul Mugatu. Plot details are being kept to a minimal at this point, but Stiller has confessed to Empire Magazine that a lot of the film will be set in Europe and centre on Derek and Hansel. Stiller further explains, “their lives have changed and they’re not really relevant anymore. It’s a new world for them”.

Despite Ferrell’s announcement, it could be too early to assume Zoolander 2 will go into production, and due to its prolonged absence, there is a definite danger the film will share a similarity with its main characters; it is no longer relevant.
