1988 Kurt Cobain Mixtape ‘Montage of Heck’ Uncovered | Music News

The grunge-rock musician Kurt Cobain had some fun putting together all kind of sounds and music of all styles when he was 21. Cobain compiled Montage of Heck with a 4-track cassette one year before the release of Nirvana’s 1989 debut album Bleach. The mixtape is a heterogeneous amalgam of noise, children’s records and radio recordings, as well as snippets of Cobain’s own music.

In the mixture we can hear cuts from The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, Frank Zappa, and also fragments of Cobain vomiting, screams, talks and other sound effects recordings. The mixtape is 36 minutes long and has been published by Dangerous Minds. Take a listen below and scroll down for detailed content (not in order) via United Mutations.
