2021 London Fashion Week To Go Ahead As Online Only Event | Fashion News

Back in October, it was decided that January’s usual London Fashion Week Men’s would be axed in favour of one gender-less platform for February 2021, and it has now been asserted by the British Fashion Council that as the United Kingdom is going through its third national lockdown, the upcoming London Fashion Week will take place solely on a digital showcase.

In order to ensure security in view of COVID-19 as well as ensuring fashion businesses continue to operate, the British Fashion Council has worked with the government to agree a date for this digital-only event in February with no live audiences. The event will run from Friday, February 19 to Tuesday, February 23 on www.londonfashionweek.com showcasing both menswear and womenswear.

This implies that any brands will have to record their catwalk shows without an audience until further notice. The BFC chief executive Caroline Rush says “The BFC continues to ask government to engage in support of the fashion industry”.

Indeed, this new lockdown is crippling all the sectors of the fashion industry, which is also facing incredible difficulties post-Brexit.

Caroline Rush adds that, “One of the main active requests is to allow key creative and model talent to travel to and from the UK with a phased introduction of quarantine exemptions for the fashion industry, in order to carry out essential business, to protect the competitiveness of the British fashion industry”.

While waiting for the forthcoming event, here’s some samples from the previous collections of the designers that are on the list, which will include the likes of 16ARLINGTON, 1x1Studio, 8ON8, A. A. Spectrum, Edeline Lee, Edward Crutchley, EFTYCHIA, EIRINN HAYHOW, Emilia Wickstead, and Natasha Zinko x DUOltd.
