‘Danger Girl’ Movie In The Works From ‘Kick-Ass 2’ Director | Film News

While 80s nostalgia is still going strong, the 30-year cycle tells us that 90s nostalgia will soon be in vogue. And with comic book adaptations remaining Hollywood’s go-to formula, it’s no surprise to learn that a popular comic book from the 90s is getting the big screen treatment. Kick-Ass 2 director Jeff Wadlow will helm an adaptation of Danger Girl.

Danger Girl follows Abbey Chase, an adventurer reluctantly recruited into a secret organisation. She is then paired with operatives Sydney Savage and Natalia Kassle on a globe-trotting adventure to locate a series of mystical objects in an attempt to keep them out of the hands of the evil Hammer Syndicate.

Umair Aleem penned the initial script, but Wadlow will now handle rewrites. The comic is described as a blend of Indiana Jones, James Bond, and Charlie’s Angels, and was an instant hit when it debuted in 1998.

Wadlow has also helmed Blumhouse’s Truth Or Dare, and is just finishing post-production on a contemporary Fantasy Island movie. He’s not the most exciting hire, and it’s strange not to hire a female director to helm a film that focuses on a group of women. Danger Girl seems like it will fit like a glove on the silver screen though, and the lead roles should be sought after.
