Unsigned Northampton band Sarpa Salpa composed of five musicians George, Marcus, Ethan, Charlie and Meg have recently released their first 5-track EP Say Something on January 3, with the same name as this EP as their lead single
Sarpa Salpa is an alt-pop, indie dance-floor band inspired by group such as Foals, Tame Impala and Friendly Fires. In October 2018 the band released their single “Smith” which got them on BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio and BBC Radio 6 Music and aroused the interest of Chris Hawkins and Steve Lamacq.
In 2019, Lamacq attended a concert of the band at Bedford Esquires after the release of “Casanova”. After this concert, he played the single several times on his show and even interviewed the band on air. After that, the band was able to attract a whole new audience due to being voted ‘Single of the Week’ by BBC Radio 1.
Their first EP with the single “Before It Goes” was recorded in summer 2019 and was a real success, allowing them to be broadcasted on several radio stations and to tour all over the UK.
The Say Something EP is thus composed of “Say Something” but also “Lost Time”, “Paralysed” and the famous hit track “Before It Goes Dark”. The EP ends with an acoustic version of “Casanova”. In total, Sarpa Salpa has performed over 120 concerts and 30 festivals across the UK and Europe, and the success of this high-potential band continues to increase.
