The French emcee Leeroy (Saan Supa), the American emcee Lateef The Truthspeaker (Blackalicious/Latyrx), and the French keyboardist/producer/singer Hervé Salters (General Elektriks) have united to form the group The Strangers.
On August 11, 2023, they released the vibrant single “Please Believe“, showcasing a fusion of Hip Hop with natural Funk rhythms. Overflowing with confidence, the track is a seamless blend of French and English lyrics that echo the sentiment, “My life, my world, I do it my way“.
After relocating to San Francisco, Hervé and Lateef began performing worldwide with the band Blackalicious. Their collaborative endeavors continued to flourish, with the pair frequently contributing to General Elektriks tracks.
When Leeroy sought Hervé to play keys on his debut solo album, a new possibility emerged. Yet the magic between these three artists only truly ignited in July 2022, during a live performance in Marseille at a festival.
Since that pivotal moment, The Strangers have crafted a unique narrative within their music. They engage in a dialogue with the present, using potential future conflicts and disagreements as lyrical motifs.
This approach results in a storyline that is reminiscent of the best science fiction films, creating a vivid, imaginative soundscape for their listeners.
Building on the momentum of “Please Believe”, The Strangers are set to release a full-length album on September 15, 2023. The forthcoming project poses a thought-provoking question: To ensure the security of a better world, is there a need for oppression?
As we await the album’s arrival, listeners can immerse themselves in the captivating sonic world of The Strangers by watching and listening to “Please Believe” below!
