Adaptation of ‘Crosswind’ Comic Book Secures Development Deal | TV News

Reportedly, Piazza Entertainment has forged a multi year producing deal with Entertainment One to develop future television projects. Vanessa Piazza, executive producer of Piazza Entertainment, has already got started on the first project, and has put an adaptation of the 2017 comic book mini series Crosswind into development.

Written by the legendary Gail Simone and drawn by Cat Staggs, the comic series has been described as Freaky Friday meets Goodfellas. The plot revolves around Carson, a conniving hitman, and Juniper, a Seattle housewife sick of everything. After crossing paths with a mysterious vagrant, the two switch bodies, leaving each to cope with the other’s problems.

As the story continues, Carson and Juniper try to work together to make sure certain things don’t get out of hand should they ever return to their original bodies. Simone herself will write the pilot and also executive produce, while Staggs will serve as a consulting producer for the show.

It’s obviously a smart move to get the original creators of the comic on board for the series, which you’d think would happen in more adaptations, and that should provide the Crosswind series with an authenticity that should keep it loyal to the original source material.

It’ll also be interesting to see how the tone of the comic is adapted for TV. We now wait to see which network likes the project enough to pick it up.
