Alternative afrofusion artist Nova has just released a new single “Precious Diamond” with Toronto singer Katasha J.
Nova is a young artist born in England to an American father and a Ghanaian mother, he was raised in Nigeria and now lives in Canada. The influence of these cultures can be felt through his music, which is a mix of genres such as R&B, afrobeats, hip-hop and pop music.
On top of the success of his latest track “Replay” which was released independently last year, and his previous project STAY, which has garnered over 100,000 streams, Nova has been supported by the likes of MTV, Okayafrica, Native Magazine, and SingersRoom.
Nova starts the year with a single offering an infectious R&B leaning offering, with lush pop and afro-fusion sensibilities. This track is produced by Toye Aru, who has already worked with Cruel Santino, Lady Donli and Kida Kudz. Nova shares the song with the singer Katasha J, who adds her sultry harmonies and delicate vocals, to the glorious affair.
Nova talks about the inspiration behind his new song saying: “This track is about appreciating that special someone in your life. Katasha and I worked this song the first day we met, and it was like magic.
I had already started writing the song but when we connected everything just came together organically. What’s more precious than diamonds? Well, I wish everyone who gets to hear this has the opportunity to experience a connection that makes diamonds just a complimentary gift to that truly special person”.
