Alex Kurtzman is set to launch Universal’s monster film project

Writer and producer Alex Kurtzman is set to help to re-launch Universal Picture’s class monster movies including Dracula, The Creature, Frankenstein’s Monster, The Wolf Man and The Mummy. The studio has asked Kurtzman and his co-writer Chris Morgan to reboot these classic horror-esque films, and the pair is currently working on revamping The Mummy film which saw its first cinematic release in 1999. Kurtzman has the task of recreating the film, in a more monster style. About the revamp, Kurtzman said, “I think it’s incredibly important to all of us to start focusing on each movie, and make each movie great. Some monsters will get their own movie. Others will appear as secondary characters. The balance is what we’re working out right now“. The Mummy will be available to watch in UK cinemas on the 22nd of April 2016.
