Amber Jay Releases Heartbreak Track ‘Stay The Same’ And Teases Upcoming EP | Music News

To celebrate the announcement of her forthcoming debut EP Never Too Far From A Dark Thought, Liverpool musician Amber Jay has dropped her new track “Stay The Same”, a classic heartbreak tale with alt-pop harmonic twist, where she continues to redefine the bedroom-pop genre.

“Stay The Same” proves Amber Jay’s delicate vocals and experimental production, taking lessons from heavyweights such as Marika Hackman, girl in red and Julien Baker to create her own hauntingly gritty vibe.

Amber Jay describes her own single better than anyone, saying, “‘Stay The Same’ is a classic heartbreak track. It encapsulates that pining feeling for someone when a relationship has ended and whatever you try to do to fix it just makes the other person more and more distant.

Kind of like when you’re swimming and there’s like a lilo in the water and every time you try and wade towards it to get on, the water’s ripples from your movement pushes it further and further away. This track was super fun to make and the first track we recorded. I was so happy with how it sounded that it made me want to make an EP. So, without this track there would be no EP!”

This new single has been released only 10 days after the release of the music video for her 2020 track “Pencilled Brims”, the first installment of her EP, which made her gain the support of the likes of BBC Introducing, Huw Stephens on BBC Radio 1, BBC6 Music, Amazing Radio, Spotify.

She has caught the eye of several tastemakers such as Earmilk, When The Horn Blows, Riot Mag, Podcart and more.

Amber Jay has been introduced in the world of music since the age of thirteen, starting with a gift from her aunt who offered her guitar lessons. Drom there, and then through GCSE composition courses, she has been writing consistently ever since.

Amber Jay’s debut EP Never Too Far From A Dark Thought will be released on the 3rd of March, listen to “Stay The Same” below:
