2015 was the year of Amy Schumer. It was the year she rose to prominence and the year we collectively fell in love with her. Not only is she one of the funniest and raunchiest comedians to ever walk this earth, she is also extremely real and honest. Qualities that are, unfortunately, uncommon in Hollywood. One of the reasons why she is so admired and adored is because she is messy and clumsy and occasionally foul-mouthed  – just like the rest of us.

She is unapologetically herself, and she doesn’t bend over backwards trying to please others. She’s a “woman with thoughts and questions and shit to say”. But with great fame comes miserable internet trolls. Amy has found herself at the center of cruel comments on more than one occasion. But, Amy being her epic self, used New Year’s Eve to throw some well deserved shade – and it’s hilarious and brilliant and all the things one associates with Schumer.

Well played, Schumer, and thank you for always being honest. Thank you for spreading words of wisdom and constantly inspiring me and other women by simply being yourself, “I say if I’m beautiful. I say if I’m strong. You will not determine my story — I will. I will speak and share and fuck and love, and I will never apologize to the frightened millions who resent that they never had it in them to do it”.
