Andy Samberg, Craig Robinson & Common Join Stoner Superhero Comedy ‘Super High’ | Film News

New Line recently won the pitch for stoner superhero comedy Super High, which will be written by New York Times bestselling author Adam Mansbach (Go The Fuck To Sleep) and will take place in a universe where smoking weed gives you super powers.

You’re probably already sold, but for good measure, Andy Samberg, Craig Robinson and Common have signed on to star in the film.

While that’s the exact sort of thing the world needs right now, unfortunately the film is still a few years away, at least. The script has not yet been written, but obviously New Line wanted to get some names attached early. So all we can go on is that premise and try to think back to the last time a stoner comedy was a big release. Pineapple Express?

Samberg recently starred in the time-loop comedy Palm Springs – which was also a nice respite from the world right now; maybe Samberg is the common denominator – while Robinson was last seen in the Disney+ comedy Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made.

Common usually stays away from comedy and has done a lot of action recently, including Ava and Hunter/Killer. Expect him to be the straight man to Samberg and Robinson’s shenanigans.

Seeing these three in a stoner comedy riffing on the superhero genre should be plenty of fun. Hopefully there’s a chance we can all see it with a packed, joyous crowd on opening weekend in a few years.
