‘Annabelle: Creation’ – Thoroughly Well-Executed And Thought-Out | Film Review

Annabelle: Creation is a 2017 horror film that stars Stephanie Sigman, Alicia Vela-Bailey, Miranda Otto, Anthony LaPaglia, and Talitha Bateman. It’s directed by David F. Sandberg (known for Attic Panic and Lights Out).

A synopsis for this film via IMDb reads: “12 years after the tragic death of their little girl, a dollmaker and his wife welcome a nun and several girls from a shuttered orphanage into their home, where they soon become the target of the dollmaker’s possessed creation, Annabelle”.

Annabelle: Creation is a thoroughly well-executed and thought-out medium budget horror in a very creepy house with a more creepy doll. The film is really scary with brilliant sound effects that will make you jump out of your seat. There were also some scenes that included comedy; the doll is not only scary but also rather ridiculous. The move from scares to laughter and back was done with outstanding precision and taste. The actors were great and the whole film left me the impression that it is a professional production.

Not only was it a good horror movie, it was also actually a good movie! The storyline was solid and made sense. I have to say that it is far more creepier than the original film. Annabelle: Creation can appeal to many horror fans because of its use of suspenseful jump scares and skin crawling scenes.

An important thing to mention is that the film is not finished when the credits roll in. There’s an extra scene that has a connection with the Conjuring films. What helps this installment in the Wan series is its clever suspense. As a horror movie it definitely works on so many levels. Overall, the location, the acting, the pacing, the camera angles and of course the story are undoubtedly great.

If I were to mark this film I would give it an 8.5 out of 10. It is amazing and is definitely worth watching. Annabelle: Creation is out in cinemas everywhere! Here’s what to expect:
