Apple Investigated For Pressuring Labels To End Free Music Streaming | Music News

 

Apple are reportedly been investigated by authorities on allegations of pressuring labels to end free music streaming. The company is currently designing a music streaming service themselves, hoping to compete against the likes of Spotify and Tidal. However, it has been reported that the Department of Justice and Federal Trade Commission are investigating Apple due to claims that the company have been pressuring labels not to renew their license with Spotify’s free tier service, in hopes that the labels will move to their new and upcoming service which they are working on with Beats Music and Trent Reznor. They have already promised to secure exclusives from the likes of Taylor Swift and Florence & The Machine among others, when they launch their streaming service.
