Du0, a Meanjin/Brisbane-based electronic artist and producer has released his brand new single titled “Overdrive“. He has collaborated with Reo Cragun to craft this brand new gem from his upcoming EP FLOAT, which is set to be released on Wednesday, April 19.
“Overdrive”, which was produced by the artist in collaboration with Nicolas Essig (Daft Punk, Paul McCartney, Post Malone), starts with throbbing rhythms and zingy melodies topped with a layer of dazzling instrumentation.
The song smoothly transitions from melted verses to an upbeat chorus, festive with shimmering complexities overlaid all through. Reo Cragun’s tunes seamlessly direct the song, brilliantly blending Du0’s skillful production, a way that results in another intriguing collaboration for the artist’s collection.
According to Du0, he has been a big fan of Reo for a long time and to get the opportunity to work with him on “Overdrive” is a dream come true. He also shared that he wanted to touch on some of my previous more funky tracks, so he focused on funking up the bass guitar to tie in with some more fluffy synth sounds in the chorus.
He also added that he got his previous collaborator Fingazz (who has worked with Snoop Dogg, Bruno Mars and Machine Gun Kelly) on there to lay down some vocoder and talkbox elements on the track. Lyrically, it is about the freedom of young love and going all in on someone.
