It has been announced that the struggling high street retailer BHS will go into ‘wind down’, having gone into administration in April. Numerous attempts have been made to rescue the 88-year-old department store, but bidding has not resulted in any success with a new buyer.

Approximately 11,000 jobs will be lost as Philip Green, Chairman of Arcadia, faces growing scrutiny over alleged shady dealings and huge amounts extracted by the Green family and shareholders. All 163 stores on high streets around the country will be holding closing down sales in the coming weeks, with administrators saying that their “thoughts are with the employees“.
