Billie Marten Shares New Single ‘Human Replacement’ | Music News

Billie Marten has given us a new teaser of what to expect from her new album Flora Fauna with her new single “Human Replacement”.

The songwriter’s new album is due to be released on May 21 via Fiction Records and will be her third studio album, bringing a new chapter in the vivid talent’s discography. Marten has previously released the lead single “Creature of Mine” in early April and “Garden Of Eden” back in January.

This new single, “Human Replacement”, is accompanied by its official video. It was directed by the award-winning creative Joe Wheatley. About the video, Marten explained that the video “absolutely needed to match the message of the song.”

It talks about the absurdity of being a woman, not being able to go out anywhere at night as well as the fear that comes with this. The songwriter also adds “It’s a deliberately absurd illustration of a disturbingly real problem that needed to be addressed“.

“Human Replacement” is dominated by a strong bass line that mixes perfectly with the singer’s soft voice. Sometimes only percussions are accompanying her voice. The video shows us Billie Marten in a tank at night to move in the street in order to go buy a pint of milk.

Billie Marten is a British singer-songwriter and musician coming from Ripon in North Yorkshire. She released her first EP at the age of fifteen in 2014 and has now released two EPs as well as two studio albums – three by the end of the week. In late 2015, she was nominated for the BBC Sound of 2016.
