Calvin Harris and Rihanna’s first collaboration, “We Found Love”, was a smash club hit, and the duo’s most recent effort, “This Is What You Came For”, aims to have the same effect this summer.
They have shared a new visual for their latest single for which Calvin Harris also shared an EP of “This Is What You Came For” remixes on Apple Music, featuring work from R3HAB, Dillon Francis and more.
The track begins with shimmering guitar and the sultry vocals of Rihanna. It slowly builds to get the summer dance crowd going, and features heavy bass and clapping drum to reinforce that intention. The last minute strips everything back, letting her vocals breathe before kicking in proper, again.
Emil Nava directs the video proceedings, a lot of which takes place inside what seems to be a green screen effects box. This appears to simulate strobes and lasers at a rave, very much linking in with the dance crowd sought in the track itself. It is very much an indoors effort, however, a white sports car races outside before sitting parked beside Rihanna afterwards.
