Age is a sensitive topic. It is especially daunting in a society that emphasises and prices physical beauty. A lot of women feel the pressure to maintain a specific and often unrealistic beauty standard – one perpetuated by the media.
Cameron Diaz is all about discarding this enforced image of beauty and promoting natural and internal beauty. Yesterday she took to Instagram to post a gorgeous makeup-free picture. In the photo we see her holding her upcoming book The Longevity Book.
The beautiful photo is accompanied by an equally empowering and important message. “I’m so excited to continue the conversation because learning that you can age well, will actually help you age better. If you understand how your body works then you can take action to help keep it in the best possible condition so it can carry you through a long and beautiful life”.
She then points us in the direction of a blog post, scattered with even more wisdom. “As spring is springing all around us, as life is, I’m interested in engaging us all in a conversation: one that is about regeneration, about new ways to talk to each other and ourselves about the ever growing, changing, and aging state of being a human” the post begins.
The Longevity Book is all about embracing age and celebrating life, and Diaz has an important message: “I want to let you all off the hook of thinking you need to fit in to one picture of health in order to achieve wellness. From thinking that you have to go out in search of things externally, into a world of confusing messages that tell you how you should LOOK, and what you have to buy and buy into to do so”.
As Diaz eloquently states, we all live different lives – what works for one person might not work so well for another. We are all different, and our bodies and minds need different things. There are so many ways to live a healthy and fulfilled life. I love that she’s promoting internal well-being and engaging others to celebrate their natural beauty.
