Cardi B’s Up’ Debuts At #2 On Billboard Hot 100 Chart | Music News

 

Last Tuesday Billboard revealed that Cardi B debuted at #2 on the Hot 100 chart with her new single “Up“. It seems that 2021 will be another successful year for Cardi B. “Up” follows the success of her previous single “WAP” with Megan Thee Stallion, and becomes the ninth US top 10 single of Cardi’s career.

 

The song was released on February 5 and since then, it has accumulated more than 31 million streams, 14 million in airplay audiences, with 37000 digital and physical copies sold so far. The single premiered with an accompanying video that currently has more than 47 million views.

 

Moreover, Cardi´s single is acclaimed to be the highest debuting solo track by a female rapper in the 21st century. The last artist and track that achieved this chart position was Lauryn Hill in 1998 with the the #1 debut of “Doo Wop (That Thing)

 

Ahead of “Up” was Olivia Rodrigo’s single “Drivers License”. The song has been sitting at the top of the charts for a fifth week now. Cardi’s “Up” is then followed by The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” at #3 on the chart alongside with “Save Your Tears” at #4, bolstered by his electric Super Bowl performance.
