‘Chola Victorian’ Influences Showcased At Givenchy Autumn 2015 Paris Fashion Week Show | Fashion News

Creative Director Riccardo Tisci presented a romantic, Victoriana theme in his Autumn/Winter 2015-2016 Paris Fashion Week show for Givenchy, with the added twist of plenty of elaborate jewellery on each of the models’ faces, with faux cheek gem piercings and nose rings, including some moustache-shaped items. The models also had their hair gelled down and slicked into circles on their foreheads, which has already inspired a celebrity in Katy Perry, who watched the show with similar gelled down curls.

Tisci has said he was inspired by the South American ‘Chola’ girl gangs, and the scarlet velvet flourishes on tailored pieces emphasised these Mexican influences. Tisci also commented: “I’ve learned so much about construction and technique” and presented his skills for both with boned corsets, a black, panelled, fit and flare velvet dress and tailored fishtail skirts to show off the female silhouette and the Victoriana influence.
