Chris Pine To Star In Black Ops Thriller ‘Violence Of Action’ | Film News

Star Trek star Chris Pine has signed on to lead the black ops thriller Violence Of Action. Tarik Saleh (The Nile Hilton Incident) will direct from a script written by J.P. Davis. The film will be an independent production, with Thunder Road Films and 30West producing.

Pine will play a man involuntarily discharged from the marines, who joins a paramilitary organisation in order to support his family in the only way he knows how. While traveling to Poland with his elite black ops team on a mission to investigate a mysterious threat, he soon finds himself alone and hunted in Europe. There he must fight to stay alive long enough to get home and uncover the true motives behind his betrayers.

Pine recently stepped away from his blockbuster comfort zone to lead David Mackenzie‘s Netflix film, Outlaw King. Although not particularly similar in style, Violence Of Action has some similarities, focusing on a lone protagonist battling forces he doesn’t fully understand. Perhaps it gave him an itch for a similar role.

Although Pine has a role in Wonder Woman 1984 coming up, he seems to be looking to spread his wings to other genres. Violence Of Action should offer him that chance to be a leading man away from the trappings of Hollywood.

The project will be presented to buyers at the Cannes Film Festival this week. Principal photography will begin in the autumn.
