The lovers may be dead, but the star crossed lovers live on. ABC has confirmed today that Danish actress Clara Rugaard has been cast as Juliet in its pilot for Still Star Crossed, as reported by Deadline. The show is written by Heather Mitchell and based on the book by Melinda Taub. The plot is set following the events of the bards play, the Montagues and Capulets attempting to deal with the aftermath of the lover’s death and the treachery and the intrigue.
Given that the characters are dead, the roles of Romeo and Juliet are guest stars, fitting as the main star of the show actually falls on the beautiful Rosaline – played by Lashana Lynch – Romeo’s first love who is ordered to marry his cousin, Benvolio – played by Wade Briggs – to heal the wounds of the warring families. Also in the cast are: Zuleikha Robinson, Anthony Head, Grant Bowler, Torrance Coombs and Ebonée Noel.
