Comic Book Series ‘The Sandman’ To Become A New Show On Netflix | TV News

After many attempts to bring Neil Gaiman’s Vertigo comic Sandman to the screen, it is finally happening. According to The Hollywood Reporter and El País, Warner Bros TV and Netflix reached an agreement and the platform is going to produce what seems to be the most expensive TV series of DC Entertainment.

This dark fantasy comic book series tell the story about Morpheus of Endless, who rules the world of dreams. As one of the first graphic novels appearing on the New York Time Best Seller list, The Sandman has been one of the most popular comics ever.

Fans will be blissful, as they have been waiting for this moment to happen since the 90’s, when Warner Bros. announced they would bring the best-seller to the big screen. However, after going through several screenwriters, the project ended up being cancelled in 2000.

Even the actor and director Joseph Godon-Levitt tried to adapt the story to the cinema teaming up with Gaiman himself, but the project ended in 2016 due to “creative differences”.

Warner Bros. and Netflix aren’t making any statements, as the deal has not been closed yet. However, it is being said that Allan Heinberg (scriptwriter from Grey’s Anatomy, The Catch and Wonder Woman) will be the writer and show runner, while Gaiman will stay as executive producer next to screenwriter David Goyer.

We will have to wait for more information to come out and confirm the good news, but hopefully this time we will finally have a live-action Sandman.
