Dave Bautista Joins Cast Of ‘Knives Out’ Sequel | Film News

Dave Bautista is about to be seen in Zack Snyder‘s zombie heist movie Army Of The Dead for Netflix, but the former wrestler isn’t done collaborating with the streaming platform, as he’s signed on to join Rian Johnson‘s Knives Out sequel.

It was about a month ago that the streaming giant purchased the rights to two Knives Out sequels for a cool $450 million, with Daniel Craig‘s Detective Benoit Blanc returning for two new mysteries with a different supporting cast from the first film. The addition of Bautista will see him re-team with Craig after the two battled in 2015’s Spectre.

Plot details are under wraps at this point, and there’s no word on what role Bautista will be playing. We do know that production is expected to begin this summer in Greece.

Bautista often thrives as a part of a large ensemble, so this sounds like a perfect role for him. He’s consistently stolen the show as Drax in the Guardians Of The Galaxy films – he’ll reprise the role in the third installment as well as Thor: Love And Thunder – and has delivered in supporting roles in Blade Runner 2049 and the aforementioned Spectre.

It seems like studios are really figuring out how to use Bautista to the best of his ability, as Army Of The Dead sounds like it should fit the ensemble bill too, as it follows a group of mercenaries who plot a heist on a Las Vegas casino during a zombie outbreak. That film will premiere on Netflix on Friday May 21, following a week-long theatrical run in select cinemas.

We’ll wait and see what the Knives Out follow-up has in store for Bautista. Is he a menacing suspect? Blanc’s new partner? Or somebody else? Hopefully the film harnesses his surprisingly great comedic skills, too.

This is just the latest big project Bautista has lined up, as alongside Army Of The Dead he also has a role in Denis Villeneuve‘s Dune movie later this year. Between him, John Cena and The Rock, former wrestlers are thriving in Hollywood right now.
