Most bands that were part of the monstrous nu-metal movement of the mid-to-late 90’s are extinct, but not so for Deftones. The survivors of that wasteland, thanks to their openness to experiment and their ability to evolve, are releasing their 8th album Gore on April 8, and last night, they shared the latest single from the album, “Hearts/Wires”, on Daniel P Carter’s BBC Radio 1 Rock Show.
The song starts with ripples of sound before stepping up a gear, and it’s not long until the band explode into one of their trademark huge choruses with singer Chino Moreno riding atop the ultra-fuzzed guitars, cutting through razor wires and dining on hearts. Bring on the album. Skip to the 2:40 minute mark to hear the track here.
