Good news Back to the Future fans! We may have just been given a chance to own the most iconic car in cinematic history. According to Houston Television station KRPC (via TIME online), the DeLorean Motor Company is planning to reproduce 300 copies of the 1982 model using parts left over from its decade. Current CEO Stephen Wynne is particularly enthusiastic with the business opportunity, stating “It’s huge for us. It means we’re back as a car company again.

It is estimated that DMC managed to only produce over 9,000 DeLoreans, as it struggled with severe financial and legal issues at the time. Following the release of the film however, copies of the model were sought after by many fans, becoming one of the most prized collectors items in their possession.

The company plans to release this new batch DeLoreans by 2017, with a starting price tag of just about $100,000 (£70,000). Also just a reminder, this is an official re-production and not intended to be a film replica. So Sorry guys… Flux Capacitor sold separately.
