It’s been just over thirty years since the world welcomed Maverick to our screens and Paramount have finally released details for the long awaited Top Gun sequel. Audiences will be able to revisit the hotshot pilot on June 12, 2019 and relive the high from the first film which saw audiences revved up and ready to put on their own uniforms.
Plans for a sequel have been going on for years and original director Tony Scott was willing to reprise his role before his untimely death in 2012. Instead, Oblivion director Joseph Kosinski will reunite with Tom Cruise to revive the cult classic.
Tom Cruise has confirmed that the sequel will be titled Top Gun: Maverick, so we can expect to see a lot of thumbs up and smug looks to fill our screens in 2019. Until then.
