Chicago’s Donnie Trumpet of the Social Experiment shares his Prince dedication in the form of a new song, titled “In Your Light”. The track features Sima Cunningham and it is dedicated to Prince, and his lesser-known song, “Donna”. The song apparently helped Donnie through a rough time in his life.
The track is a short one; and both the lead and backing vocals are dreamy, washing over the listener. The guitar is scratchy let melodic and relaxing. Perhaps the tinkling piano and all that accompanies it are Prince’s passage to heaven. There are little parallels to be drawn from this to anything by the “Purple Rain” man, but you cannot doubt it is from the heart.
