Drake Announced As Most Streamed Artist Of 2018 On Spotify | Music News

Spotify has crowned Canadian rapper and singer Drake as the most streamed artist of 2018. And not only is he the most streamed artist of the year, but also of “all time”, thanks to the 8.2 billion streams since his debut album Scorpion in June.

Drizzy had also made it to the top of the list in 2015 and 2016 but lost to English singer and songwriter Ed Sheeran in 2017.

This accomplishment is merely one of many for Drake in 2018. His collaboration with Travis Scott “Sicko Mode” has achieved the No.1 spot on Billboard Hot 100. Overall, the legend artist has claimed about 27 No.1 spots on Top Overall Artist, No.1 Hot 100 Artist, No.1 Streaming Songs Artist, #1 Hot 100 Male and numerous more.

Aside from Drake, the Top 5 list of Most Streamed Male Artists in the world includes Post Malone, XXXTentacion, J Balvin and Ed Sheeran.

The Top 5 list for female artists includes Dua Lipa, Cardi B, Taylor Swift, Camila Cabello and Ariana Grande as No. 1. Grande’s recent hit single “Thank U, Next” alone has gained over 220 million streams already.

The hip-hop genre was the most listened and therefore dominated 2018. However, Latin music has also gained increased popularity throughout the year. J Balvin and Bad Bunny have made it to be within the Top 10 most streamed artist. Furthermore, the iconic artists Cardi B and Camila Cabello have also claimed a spot on the list with their Latin debut tracks.
