Dwayne Johnson Becomes The Highest-Paid Actor Of 2019 | Film News

Dwayne Johnson was the highest-paid actor in 2019, according to the latest rankings from Forbes.

He earned $89.4m (£73.6m) in the last year, earning an upfront salary of up to $23.5 million for Jumanji: Next Level.

In 2018 he came second to George Clooney, who has now dropped out of the top 10 as the majority of his 2018 earnings came from the sale of his Casamigos tequila company to drinks giant Diageo in a $1bn (£753m) deal.

The Forbes lists take into account a celebrity’s overall earnings, including brand endorsements.

Johnson’s endorsements include sportswear company Under Armour, and in the last year he has starred in the Fast & Furious spin-off Hobbs & Shaw and Skyscraper as well as producing films including Fighting with My Family and Shazam!.

Later this year he will star in Jumanji: The Next Level alongside Kevin Hart and Jack Black.

Chris Hemsworth is in second place this year with earnings of $76.4m (£62.9m).

Robert Downey Jr. remains in third, his earnings down from $79m in 2018 to $66m (£54.4m).

Bradley Cooper has re-entered the top 10 for the first time since 2015.

He is now the sixth highest earner, having made $57m (£46.9m), thanks to directing, co-producing and appearing in A Star Is Born alongside Lady Gaga.

Forbes will release their list of highest paid actresses this Friday.

Scarlett Johansson was the highest-paid actress of 2018 with earnings of $40.5m, while Angelina Jolie came in second with $28m and Jennifer Aniston was in third place with $19.5m.
