Emma McGrath is aged just 15 and she has already set tongues wagging with her excellent presence on stage, she has performed a various venues including the prestigious 100 Club on London’s Oxford Street. This singer/songwriter has a captivating voice which makes her sound a lot older in age than what she is. Its hard to close your eyes and listen to her music and to think she is only 15 years old!
During live performances it is said that she leaves audiences “completely captivated by her performance”. Emma started playing the guitar from the age of 10 and played her first open mic at 13. Her first EP, was recorded just 18 months later at The Grand Chapel Studios in Bedfordshire.
Emma is now actively involved in any production work with her songs and has uses her skills in production to create unique covers of popular songs. Since uploading her tracks to BBC Introducing, Emma has been played and interviewed by: BBC Introducing Beds, Herts and Bucks, Local radio stations including: Radio Dacorum, Radio Verulam and Vibe 107.6FM.
She was featured on Dermot O’Leary‘s BBC Radio 2 Show segment ‘Some Mothers Do Indie‘ back in January but currently she is working hard to pass her GCSE’s. Emma has recently had some major success by winning the inaugural PRS For Music Foundation and PRS For Music Members Benevolent Fund Lynsey de Paul Prize for emerging female singer songwriters.
Emma said about winning the Lynsey de Paul Prize: “I feel very grateful to have won such a fantastic prize and excited to know that the money will enable me to continue working on my next EP! Recording has already begun and it’s good to know that I will have the funds to finish it and promote it properly. I am particularly keen to access the mentorship and look forward to meeting new people and learning lots of new things”.
This young lady is one to watch out for and for someone who has such an astonishing vocal range at her age is unbelievable. She was truly born to sing. Listen to her new single “Sit With Me” below, this beautiful song is out on November 27.
