Emma Watson And Tom Hanks Team Up For ‘The Circle’ Adaptation | Film News

Playtone and Likely Story have announced that Harry Potter star Emma Watson has replaced Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina) for a main role alongside Tom Hanks in upcoming novel adaptation thriller, The Circle. It has been reported that Vikander has abandoned the role for a spot in the next Bourne film, starring Matt Damon.

James Ponsoldt is set to direct the adaptation of Dave Egger‘s book about a young woman who signs on to ‘The Circle’, described as an internet monopoly company that links all of your personal parts of your life together in one system. Watson’s character is said to meet Hanks’ character, described only as a “mysterious older man“, whilst working there. Cleverly tackling issues about the internet and modern age, this sci-fi thriller film is set to question the way that privacy is violated in the modern age of technology. No release date has been set, however the film is due to begin production this September.
