Film4 FrightFest Reveals Opening And Closing Films | Film News

 

Film4 Frightfest began in 2000 as an international festival dedicated to fantasy and horror movies, and has continued in the West End during August every year since. This year, the festival will take place in Vue Cinema in Leicester Square. In the run up to the festival, and run up to the festival’s full line-up, Film4 have divulged the films that will open and close the almighty gorefest. The festival is set to kick off with the European premiere of Cherry Tree, an Irish film directed by Wake Wood‘s David Keating, about a little girl who makes a bargain with a witch coven to save her dying father, with terrible consequences.

 

The film confirmed to close the festival is to be another European premiere, this time of Tales of Halloween – an anthology film containing ten stories centred around the horrific holiday in an American Suburb. Darren Lynn Bousman, Axelle Carolyn and Neil Marshall amongst others are set to direct, with an exciting cast shining with cult horror stars, from the likes of Lin Shaye (Insidious),Kristina Klebe (Halloween), Grace Phipps (Fright Night), and Joe Dante (Gremlins) to name a few.

 

The full lineup for the festival will be announced next Thursday. The festival will take place between the 27th and 31st August 2015. Tickets go on sale 4th July, available at the official Frightfest website.
