‘Final Destination 6’ In The Works With Zach Lipovsky & Adam B. Stein To Direct

Having seen the success that the Scream and Halloween franchises have had with their respective recent reboots/requels, the Final Destination series is planning for a return. A sixth film in the franchise is in development, with Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein (Freaks) tapped to direct.

News of a reboot has actually been circulating since 2019, but the project has repeatedly stalled as New Line Cinema has struggled to find the right director(s). Reportedly over 200 candidates interviewed for the gig, but Lipovsky and Stein eventually secured it after an impressive Zoom pitch that highlighted their great appreciation and knowledge of the franchise.

The original writer and creator of the series, Jeffrey Reddick, previously confirmed that the reboot will take certain liberties when it comes to the typical franchise formula. What does that mean? Who knows. But the sixth film will reportedly follow a group of first responders who manage to escape their demise, only for death to hunt them down.

Guy Busick is writing the screenplay. He previously penned Ready or Not and 2022’s Scream, so he’s got plenty of experience with both horror and reboots/belated sequels. Craig Perry and Sheila Hanahan Taylor, the producers of the original film, will be returning alongside Spider-Man: Homecoming director Jon Watts and Atlanta‘s Dianne McGunigle.
