First Full Trailer For ‘Top Boy’ Season Three Revealed | TV Trailer

Netflix has released the first full trailer for the third season of the drug drama Top Boy. The series returns on September 13.

After a six-year gap, Dushane (Ashley Walters) is back London trying to re-establish his position of a drugs kingpin. According to Netflix’s synopsis, “he teams up with Sully, his spiritual brother, partner and sometime rival who is also returning to the same streets after his own form of exile – prison – comes to an end. Awaiting them both is Jamie, the young, hungry and ruthless gang leader whose ambitions leave no place for Dushane and Sully”.

Apart from the rapper Ashley Walters, the cast features Kane Robinson, better known as Kano, Michael Ward, cast as Jamie, as well as two raising grime stars Dave and Little Simz, playing two leading characters Modie and Shelley.

Top Boy season three is a follow-up to the original series aired in the U.K. in the years 2011-2013. The new episodes are produced by the show’s original creators: Charles Steel, Alasdair Flind, Ronan Bennett and Yann Demange. The soundtrack is written by Brian Eno.

The new Top Boy’s executive producer is none other than Drake, who made sure the series got a deal with Netflix. In an interview in June, Walters said: “Drake had seen the show. He reached out to me and was like ‘Show’s amazing, when’s it coming back on?’ I told him ‘It’s not happening’ and he said ‘I’m not having that.’ Two years later, Drake came to us with a Netflix deal and was like ‘There you go’, so currently, he’s Executive Producer”.
